The Visit of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Cork and Kerry on the 14th and 15th of June 2018. The visit will commence at 10.30 a.m. in Cork City where a number of engagements will take place throughout the city and its environs.  On Friday the 15th of June, the Royal Party will travel to Kerry where they will visit Derrynane, Tralee and Killarney before departing that evening.

Cork City, Tralee and Killarney will be open for business as usual. The public are welcome to visit these centres and will be facilitated to view the visit of Their Royal Highnesses.

• People coming to view the visit are asked to arrive in good time, and not to carry large luggage/ bags as these items will not be permitted in certain viewing areas.
• People going about their daily business will be facilitated but some minor delays may be experienced and in this regard people are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
• Local residents, businesses and schools have been informed.

Parking/Pedestrian restrictions and Road Closures – Cork City on the 14th June 2018

The following parking restrictions will be in place:

• Between 12 noon on the 13th of June and approximately 3 p.m. on the 14th of June parking will be prohibited in the following areas.  St. Patricks’s Street from Academy Street to Daunt Square. The Grand Parade, South Mall, Oliver Plunkett Street from Princess Street to Grand Parade, Lapp’s Quay, Anglesea Street and Kyrl’s Street.

• Between 12 noon and 12 midnight on Thursday the 14th of June 2018. Half - moon Street, Academy Street, Emmet Place and Drawbridge Street.

The following road closures will be in place:

• Between 7.15 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday the 14th of June.  The Grand Parade, Oliver Plunkett Street from Caroline Street to the Grand Parade, Lapp’s Quay, The South Mall between Parliament Street and Grand Parade.

• Between 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday the 14th of June.  Anglesea Street, Union Quay from Copley Street to Parnell Bridge, South Mall and all side streets from Parliament Street to Parnell Bridge.  Traffic will be allowed northbound on Parnell Bridge.

• Between 9.30am and 11.30am Thursday 14th June.  St. Patricks Street and adjoining streets, Academy Street, Half Moon Street, Emmet Place and Drawbridge Street.

The following pedestrian restrictions will be in place:

• Between 7.15 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday the 14th of June. Pedestrian movement will be restricted on The Grand Parade, Oliver Plunkett Street from Market Alley to the Grand Parade, Street and Grand Parade.

• Between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. on Thursday the 14th of June. Pedestrian movement will be restricted at Daunt Square and Washington Street from its junctions with Grand Parade and South Main Street.

• Between 10.30 a.m. and 1. 30pm.  Pedestrian movement will be restricted on Anglesea Street, Parnell Bridge west side and Union Quay.

Parking/Pedestrian restrictions and Road Closures – Kerry on the 15th June 2018

Tralee Town Centre:

Ivy Terrace will close to traffic from approx. 10am to 2pm. Mary Street and Abbey Street will be closed from 7am-2pm. Members of An Garda Síochána will be on duty at all road closures.  In addition, Mary Street Car Park will be closed from 7am – 2pm. Traffic traveling down Denny Street in the direction of the Ashe Memorial Hall will be directed around the Ashe Memorial Hall back up Denny Street.

Killarney Town Centre:

Mission Road will close to traffic in both directions from approx. 2.45pm to 4.45pm on the afternoon of the 15th June 2018. In addition, heavy traffic congestion is expected in the town for the duration of the visit.

Derrynane:

Minor roads in and around Derrynane House and Park will be closed from 12midnight to 12.30pm on the 15th June 2018. This will impact a very limited number of houses and again all points will have Gardaí on duty.

Gardai are appealing to the public to be patient and to cooperate with the directions of members of An Garda Siochana.  Every effort will be made to minimise disruption and delays to the public.
